My Supporters
The support I receive from others helps to feel that someone cares and is concern about my well being.  Support can helps a person to reach their highest potential. Support encourages people to never give up.  However, we all want and need support.  We also need to give that same support we receive from others to people that stands in the need of support as well.
My pastor and wife, church family and friends are big supporters in  my life.  They have been there to encourage and help me along this journey. They are so real and true people that shares the love of God that builds a person up that feels mentally defeated or torn down. Knowing that God cares about me and love me, and forgive me when I mess up helps me to stay focus and never stop trying to do the very best He expects of me.  When I think of support I think of the scripture that I (we) can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. "Thats Support to never give up and to never be a quitter."

I have a very dear friend , whom I love dearly who is always there to help me tackle things I feel a little hesitate about.  We have been friends for years and she tells me straight forward both good and bad.  She is there when I need a shoulder to cry on or an ear to listen to me talk.  I can truly say she is one of my best friends.  I also have many other supporters that helps me to over come the obstacles that is face before me with a since of assurance that everything will be alright.  All credit goes to go for allowing these people to be the supporters they are in my life. My faith in knowing God has given me a new way of handling things I once knew not how to handle when I was trying to do them on my own. Thank God now I don't have to do them or be alone.

It is a great experience to offer support to others, so many people are facing struggles and issues of life that causes them to feel left alone.  I like to encourage them to never feel left alone because God said, He will never leave us nor forsake us.  He is always with us. Sometimes when it seem no one is with us or cares for us in the natural, but all we have to do is draw closer to God and He will come closer to us.

"My Connections to Play"

“Play is the beginning of knowledge.” ~ Anonymous

“Play gives children a chance to practice what they are learning…They have to play with what they know to be true in order to find out more, and then they can use what they learn in new forms of play.” ~ Fred Rogers (Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood)

As the years pass by I think about the times I shared playing with friends and even sometimes alone.  I can remember how my parents would love to send us out side to play.  They would sit on the front porch and watch us run, jump swing, play in dirt, play ball etc. It was fun to be able to go outside and just have good ole fun.  I can remembe making mud pies, mud cakes, make believing that I was a cook, teacher, playing kick ball, doctor, just what ever I wanted to be I was it.  I enjoyed playing teacher and cashier of a store.  However, sometimes my mother or grandmother would sit and watch us but would also take the time out to play with us to.
I feel play allow me a chance to explore and it helped me to determined what it was I wanted to be when I grew up.  I feel I had fun playing in my growing up days and now it is totally different from the things we did then and now. My child to be an example probably would never go out side and play in the mud the way I did or even take the time now he is ten to pretend to play doctor or thing of that sort. His focus is mainly on the video games and watching televsion.  I have notice when I go out side with him to play basketball he enjoys it, because I guess we are actually playing together instead of him playing alone.
Children barely want to go out side to explore, play sports etc. their interest in outdoor play is very limited.  Some children could care less if they went outside at all to play.  Wow, things has changed. The children that are in my classroom are eagered to go out and explore and play on the different play ground equipments.  They enjoy their time spent outside and hate to come inside. I believe play is good for the young and old.

Hunger and Poverty

Hunger and Poverty is a major burden in the world today.

Number of hungry people in the world
925 million hungry people in 2010
Number of hungry people, 1969-2010

It is said that poverty is the principal cause of hunger.  There are so many children right around us that are facing some form of hunger or poverty issues.  I have observed children with in my community that lack the proper nourishment and basic needs.  Some even within my class act as if they are not eating enough.  I have seen children with poor hygiene issues.  It is really sadden because some of the parents just don't care or put forth effort to ensure that their children needs are met.  On the other hand, there are families that lack the resources to take care of their families.  The children that suffers from hunger tend to have health issues and are very underweight.  I have notice that the most food some of the children receive is at school, and then they try to eat enough to cover them until they return.  That is really heart breaking, to know that some parents have the access to the various government funds as food stamps, TANF, welfare and others but still lack to provide the children with the proper needs.
I chose to research poverty and hunger in India.  India appears to be one of the world devasted nation when it comes to poverty and hunger.  Many children are so malnutrition that at the age of 5 years old they appear to be only one or two because of the lack of nourishment.  Comparing our state to others we are blessed to have the opportunity to be able to have access to the many choices of food.

Child Development and Public Health

Breastfeeding

I decide to choose the public health topic on breastfeeding, because I am a parent whom participated in breastfeeding.  It is meaningful to me because it gave me the opportunity to experience it personally.  The nutrients, vitamins, and the antibodies my child received from breastfeeding help him to fight off various illness and infection.  My son use to suffer from eczema but since I was breastfeeding him the symptoms only appear if he ate things he was allergic to.   It is said that breastfeed baby are healthy babies.  When breastfeeding there is bond and attachment developed.  My benefits from breastfeeding were I lost weigh while doing it.  I encourage people to at least try it before they actually say no.

Breastfeeding around the World
I decide to research various countries on breastfeeding.  In France it is said that 50 percent of mothers breastfeeds, and 30 percent stop after the 3 months.  In Ireland breastfeeding is very rare; some mothers will try it but decide that it is not working for them and stop.  In the United Kingdom breastfeeding is very much taboo.  They majority of people there don’t think it is appropriate to breastfeed in public.  Most midwives are pro-breastfeeding.  African women often come to the experience of breastfeeding with little or no doubt and trust in their ability to produce enough milk or milk of the right quantity.  Many people have various opinions on whether to breastfeed or not to breastfeed.  Breastfeeding offer a lot of healthy benefits that will help the child.  My opinion is to research the benefits of it and encourage mothers to try it at least one time before they decide it is not for them.

Personal Birthing Experience/Around the World Experience

Special Moment
My personal birthing experience was very an adventure because I didn’t know exactly what to expect.  I can truly say it was an unforgettable moment.  It’s amazing to know how the body is able to develop and deliver another human being.  Nine years ago,   I deliver a 6 lbs 4.2 oz healthy little boy.  I had the opportunity to deliver him naturally.  However, within my pregnancy I learned about breastfeeding, which I was able to experience that as well.  However, his father wasn’t so thrill about breastfeeding, because that meant my son always had to be with me.  My son was strictly breastfeed; he didn’t really intake a bottle until I went back to work.  When I returned home from work it was back to the routine.    It was a delightful experience to feel the bond between me and my child.  I had so much support from my family, child’s father family and the staff at the hospital when my son was delivered.  I spent 6 weeks bonding and caring with my child before retuning to work.  At my grandmother house during those six week I was to focus on taking care of my son and allowing my body to heal.  I could not do any house work or go visit others until my son was at least a month of age.  Most older people believe that you should allow your body to heal before you start going places and doing regular activities.
