Ethical Responsibilities to Children
Childhood is a unique and valuable stage in the
human life cycle.
Ideals
To recognize and respect the unique qualities,
abilities, and potential of each child.
To appreciate the vulnerability of children and
their dependence on adults.


To create and maintain safe and healthy settings
that foster children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and
physical development and that respect their dignity
and their contributions.
Principles
Above all, we shall not harm children. We shall
not participate in practices that are emotionally
damaging, physically harmful, disrespectful, degrading,
dangerous, exploitative, or intimidating to
children.

We shall care for and educate children in
positive emotional and social environments that are
cognitively stimulating and that support each child’s
culture, language, ethnicity, and family structure.

 Ethical Responsibilities to Families
Families* are of primary importance in children’s
development.
Ideals
To be familiar with the knowledge base related to
working effectively with families and to stay informed
through continuing education and training.
To develop relationships of mutual trust and
create partnerships with the families we serve.
To welcome all family members and encourage
them to participate in the program.
Principles
We shall not deny family members access to their
child’s classroom or program setting unless access is
denied by court order or other legal restriction.
We shall involve the family in significant decisions
affecting their child.

  1. I agree understanding the stages of early childhood education is very important because there are many different stages of life especially when it comes to children they are very unique

  2. Great post! all you want is children and families to have a sence of well begin with their primary early childhood educational programs. In reto, ECD is underated, they think we are babysitters until we educate their child and they can see and feel the child's brain just storming away and absorbent those 123's and ABC's. Do you think having extra curr. activities will make parents and children more activity?
